Tips to Help Keep Chemicals Out of Your Body and the Enviroment

To keep your body functioning at its Optimum, it is vital to watch what is going in your body, on your body and in the environment around you. Here are some tips to Keep your body and Environment toxin free:

  • Water - Use a water purifier, ideally an under the sink Reverse Osmosis system, or a Pi Mag water filter. Ideally use a filtered shower head to remove chemicals for showers and baths
  • Food - Eat no pesticided, genetically engineered or irradiated foods. Ideally eat Organic foods, and if not ensure to wash all fruits and vegetables with a chemical free soap to ensure the pesticide residues are cleaned off.
  • Cooking - Do not use a microwave, use an electric toaster oven for fast heating. Do not use plastic wrap - it can leach into contents of foods and beverages.
  • Sweeters - Use a natural sweetner such as honey, stevia or pure maple syrup, DO NOT use synthetic sweetners as Aspartame or Saccharine.
  • Cookware - Use no aluminium pots or rice cookers. Glass, ceramic coated steel or heavy stainless steel is ideal. Use no aluminium foil for food storage or cooking.
  • Plastic - Try to avoid eating or storing anything in plastic. Try to buy foods packaged in glass. If using plastic, hard is much better than soft. Do not store cold liqids in plastic in the freezer and do not heat or store hot liquids or foods in plastic containers.
  • Beverages - Use glass as much as possible. Avoid aluminium cans, avoid brominated ingredients, avoid benzoates with citric acid.
  • Household cleaning - Avoid typical ammonia, dishwasher detergents, drain cleaners, toilet cleaners, car wash tar, and grease removers. Avoid pine or prducts that contain toxic phenol. Air freshners can contain formaldehyde which is carcinogenic. Try eco friendly cleaning products such as Eco Store, or B.E.E.
  • Furniture - Do not buy plywood or synthetic filled cushions. Use all natural wood, hard plastic, metal, glass and find natural stuffing and covers if possible.
  • Mattresses and Bedding - Do not use urethane, polyester, form-fitting, synthetic, or smelly pesticided mattresses or pillows. Allow no boric acid, antimony, formaldehyde or glass fibers to b used in any new mattresses as a flame retardent.
  • Dry Cleaning - Chemicals used with dry cleaning clothes are linked with Cancer. Air out and store freshly dry cleaned clothing in a spare room. Ideally finding "green" non toxic cleaners.
  • Personal Care Products - Lotions, creams, lipstick, moisterises can contain harmful chemicals. Beware of lauryl sulfate, DEA cocamide, Quaternium 15, PRG40, propylene glycol, glycerine & talc. Use natural body products to avoid this risk.
  • Sanitary products - Use only natural because some products can be bleached white with dioxin. This bleach has been linked with Endometriosis.
  • Hair colouring - Use natural hair dyes, most health food stores supply these, also ask your hair dresser.
  • Toothpaste - Use no flouridated toothpaste, a pea sized amount of flouridated toothpaste has been deemed unsafe for a 7 year old if swallowed. Use natural and organic toothpastes.
  • Vaccinations - Ideally avoid immunisations until you have read the pros and cons of each type of vaccine. Toxic metal brain damage has been reported since 1991, not to mention high links to Autism.

Obviously living in a modern Society we cannot completely eradicate all toxins but if we make the effort on at least some we are saving ourselves and family from potential toxic exposure.
