Getting to know you and your body An important part of the naturopathic consultation process at Discover Health is to get to know your body and how it’s functioning. Part of this is achieved by asking you a comprehensive set of questions, but to really know what’s going on your naturopath will need to perform a series of tests.
Relax – they’re straight forward and you won’t feel a thing! Here’s an overview of the tests your naturopath may choose to use to assess your health further: (used at each consultation) Using the most effective electronic equipment available we can measure your body composition via Bio Impedence Analysis (BIA). This is done at every consultation and ensures that the protocol you’re following is effective and safe.
BIA is a state-of-the-art electrical analysis tool developed by the University of Queensland to monitor function of the body. It’s been in use for decades based on similar technology used by NASA to measure muscle loss in space. BIA provides accurate information on muscle mass and fat mass, and helps identify potential performance issues. Live Blood Analysis Live blood analysis is based on the medical science of haematology. It may help to provide an indication of the state of your general health. This test helps us assess you for: -
Diet and nutrition. -
Immune system function. -
Oxidative stress. -
Free radical damage. -
Inflammation. -
Liver function. Your naturopath will provide you with a report of the key features seen in your blood including photos of your blood, information and recommendations that may help to improve your current health status. Through a viewing of your living blood, your practitioner may be able to develop more effective health strategies tailor made for you. Comparing these images over time allows you to asses your own health improvements. Indicans Urinary Test A small sample of urine is taken for us to asses the health of your digestion in regards to the permeability of intestinal lining and parasites. This test is taken during a digestive restoration program. It enables us to assess improvements being made to ensure it is safe to move on to the next stage. Gastro Intestinal Function Profile Gastro Intestinal (GI) Function Profile is a highly advanced stool analysis technique that identifies gastrointestinal disorders. Using DNA analysis, the GI test identifies microbiota with 100% accuracy, including anaerobes a previously unmeasurable area of the gut environment This is a simple one collection test with a turn-around of around 2 weeks.
